What Are We Looking For?

As part of our continued growth, our Asset Management and Technical Services division is looking for a Contracts Manager to join us in our Inverness office on a permanent basis. This is a senior level position within a focussed, successful delivery team to aid in providing solutions to the Water industry in the north of Scotland.

Some of Your Key Duties Include:

  • Leads external teams and Ross-shire Engineering (RSE) staff to deliver excellent performance whilst delegating effectively.
  • Directs contractors and consultants to seek to resolve problems whilst remaining informed of issues. 
  • Makes clear and reasoned decisions and recommendations when faced with novel or complex situations.
  • Experience of successful business sector management / project management and managing change in the project environment
  • Builds and maintains good relationships with key players in the sector with a well-developed network of contacts.
  • Ensure a consistent and appropriate commercial approach underpins all areas of responsibility within the role and that RSE obtains an optimised value proposition in Contracts / Frameworks.
  • Ensure that RSE staff on projects have an aligned commercial approach and administer the contracts across projects to optimise the value proposition.
  • Drive continued improvement in our commercial performance, ensuring budget controls are in place, outputs are monitored, and any unforeseen movements are challenged and addressed to a satisfactory outcome for RSE.
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

What Do You Need?

  • Degree/HND/HNC in Engineering.
  • Proven experience in a senior engineering position.
  • Strong project management capability including all aspects of project development, design, construction and commissioning.
  • Preconstruction design and cost evaluation.
  • Design estimation and cost planning.
  • Experience working both independently and, in a team, orientated, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Able to elicit co-operation from a wide variety of sources including upper management, Clients and other departments.
  • Able to bring projects to successful completion.
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Customer service skills/experience an asset.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
